As a Christian church, our fundamental responsibility is to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and outwork those teachings in everyday life. A key teaching of Jesus is the acceptance of all people regardless of race, creed, socio-economic state, health and disability status or personal persuasion. To mandate who is and who is not allowed into church at their point of need, counteracts that teaching.
Legislation and mandates (official or otherwise) which restricts, limits or prejudice’s attendance for those seeking practical care and spiritual support based on one’s vaccination status, is in stark contrast to the nature and purpose of church life.
Our church has always provided a “safe haven” for the weary traveler, and we will continue to be such.
